Screening in Living Room

  • Kulturschoepfer Grünberger Straße 13 10243 Berlin Germany (map)

Join us for an evening of moving images, collective reflection, and artistic dialogue within the framework of our current exhibition Transformative Togetherness.

We’ll begin with a short guided tour of the exhibition, inviting you to immerse yourself in the artworks and their themes of connection, transformation, and shared experience.

The screening features two powerful video works that reflect on personal memory, political critique, and the symbolic meaning of the body and narrative:

🎥 Srotoswini Sinha – What Your Skin Says (2025)
Experimental video | 10 min
This intimate work focuses on the subtle gestures and expressions of individuals recalling their experiences of getting tattoos—a form of deliberate, permanent trauma inscribed onto the body. By removing the original audio and overlaying the sound of handpoking, the piece recontextualises memory through physical motion. Individuals from around the world reflect on both their first and most painful tattoos, creating a layered portrait of vulnerability, identity, and embodiment. Through repetition and exposure shifts, the video echoes the ritualistic rhythm of tattooing, drawing attention to the body's capacity to speak beyond words.

🎥 Jan Schekauski – Exit Through The Debt Shop (2024–25)
Mockumentary | 18:23 min
A bold and absurd modern fairy tale, this film follows the eccentric cat Déjà-Vu in Kenya, who sets out as a documentary filmmaker determined to expose one of the country's most corrupt rulers. But as reality twists, the cat’s mission takes an unexpected turn—ultimately aspiring to become president himself.
A chaotic, sharp-edged satire on money, work, corruption, and democracy, Exit Through The Debt Shop is alternately hilarious, shocking, and thought-provoking. It is a revealing account of what happens when debt, protest, and systemic decay collide—a mockumentary that studies the impossibility of planning in a world ruled by instability.

The evening will conclude with an open discussion with the artists, offering space to reflect on how these works expand the exhibition’s central theme through experimental and narrative film.
