Generation P3 Group Exhibition
Maybe you heard of generation X,Y or Z but have you heard of Generation P3 ? Do you know where they live, how they live? It is not a generation of the past and not of the future but rather a timeless one. It is a generation that is inclusive and not based on age, gender, culture, religion or any possible dividing factor that humans created. It’s a generation that believes in prosperity not only in the financial sense but in all possible aspects of life. It’s a generation that is in harmony and in a reciprocal relationship with planet earth beyond just consuming.
In summary, it’s a generation that shares a common purpose and shared values of the 3Ps ; people, prosperity and planet.
People:
We have seen the movements towards more diversity and inclusion especially when thinking in terms of culture, religion, ethnicity, gender and sexuality but there is much more to that when thinking about people. It is about truly seeing people for who they are and the gifts they bring to this world, placing value not in what they do or where they come from but who they are as individuals. It includes the beautiful mosaik of the diversity of our personalities, our interests, our stories. We need to address aspects such as only placing value on individuals based on the job they have or the financial contribution they bring to the economy. We need to address social justice and fight for those who are working under unfair conditions. We also need to fight for human wellbeing as each one of us is fragile. However, our weaknesses can be compensated by others' strengths in the community, which also allows our strengths to help carry weaknesses of the others.
Prosperity:
We are living in times where there is an obsession with growth, especially financial growth at the expense of other people and our planet. When we think about business and the economy, we often think about the word profit and financial resources. However, these words bring a limiting perspective based on scarcity and competitiveness and therefore we need to move beyond that limited angle and think more about “prosperity”. When others do well, we do well, which is why we see prosperity not only with regards to finances, but also in the well being of others, our community, our planet. We imagine a world where we thrive together.
This is where we seek to address the areas that are often overseen by some people. There is a danger in placing too high of a value or priority to certain resources and not others. Just as we seek diversity with our view of people, we desire to seek diversity in our view of the economy, for the good of the people as well as the good of the planet.
Planet:
This is probably the category that most people think of when they hear or think of the future and mainly link it to the term sustainability. However, it goes past the idea of being a hero and saving the planet to making sure that we are actually caring for the planet on a day to day basis. It is a radical change of thinking about how we go about our lives and how we are part of a much bigger and a more connected system. Almost everything we do has some effect on the planet, the environment, and the natural order of creation. We often go about our lives, unaware of the decisions we make, whether it be what we eat, what we purchase, how we get around to how we entertain ourselves. We need to start thinking about how each of those decisions has an impact on the environment.
